![]() | From the northern Rocky Mountains to the plains of Texas, Great Southwestern has constructed transmission lines of all sizes and types across the country. Regardless of the conditions, we get the job done. Here are just a few examples of our work.
Idaho Power Company In the steep and rugged terrain of Hell’s Canyon, Idaho, this project consisted of the installation of 85 two & three section steel poles, removal of 10.5 miles of existing 69kV transmission line, installation of 11 miles of bundled 954 kcmil, ACSR, installation of 4 miles of single circuit 2/0 "Quail", installation of one OPGW and one 3/8” shield wire. This project required significant helicopter work and hand digging numerous foundation piers as well as road building to access structure locations.
For two years Great Southwestern performed wreck-out of 69kV wood h-frame structures and rebuilt over 75 miles of 138kV transmission line on concrete and steel poles including pier foundations, conductor and 954 ACSS. Working within and meeting very tight outage schedules these projects included extremely hard rock, river crossings, highway crossings and torrential rains resulting in very deep mud requiring the use of mats.
